Conscious of the environment, we source our wood from fallen winter kill trees discovered on camping trips, trees gifted from friends and relatives, unused cleared trees from construction sites, trees destined for the burn pile inside a landfill, those acquired as the result of forest fires and those cleared for wildfire mitigation.

 

Each piece is sanded and buffed to a fine satin sheen, (to 1000 grit), All works of art are treated with food safe bowl oil, (Mike Mahoney Walnut Oil.) 

 

All pieces are "rustic" in nature. That is, they are cut by hand, turned wet, and placed in a special location to dry. Moisture content is continually monitored. During this process cracks may appear. Cracks are highlighted with a custom Turquoise / Colorado Pikes Peak Granite Inlay, Stitched, or preserved as part of the natural beauty of the piece.

 

During the drying process, all bowls and weed pots lose their symmetrical shape, and end up a bit oblong.  These pieces then receive a final turn on the lathe to restore their symmetrical shape once again prior to sanding and finishing.

 

Depending on the collector's climate, cracking may appear as each work of art becomes accustomed to its new home.  With each piece, the making and final home environments blend and enhance its unique qualities.          

 

Bowl and Platter Care:

• Hand wash only with mild dish washing soap, please do not wash in a dishwasher.

• This item is not Microwave safe.

• Do not place in direct sunlight.

• Do not place near a radiator, fireplace, or heat source.

• Use a food safe bowl oil to re finish when needed. (Mike Mahoney Walnut Oil is preferred. Mike has a 4 oz bottle readily available online.) 

• In nonfood safe pieces do not place liquids such as soups, water, etc.

 

Weed Pot Care:

• Do not place in direct sunlight.

• Do not place near a radiator, fireplace, or heat source.

• Buff with a dry terry cloth 3 to 4 times a year.

• Do not place liquids in Weed Pots.

• Non-microwavable.
